The results are in from last week’s poll. We asked you who you thought had the best solution for dealing with the issue of student loan debt.
We had 53 responses. Here’s how they break down:
Student debt will exceed $1 trillion this year, a challenge President Obama and GOP candidates are seeking to confront with dramatically different approaches.
President Barack Obama: Supports the Student Loan Forgiveness Program as well as the end of interest subsidies for graduate students.
Newt Gingrich: Has criticized Obama’s plan calling it a “Ponzi scheme,” and advocates for the privatization of student loans and work-study colleges, such as the College of the Ozarks in Missouri.
Ron Paul: Believes the federal government should eventually abolish federal aid for education because it is unfair for taxpayers who didn’t attend college to bear the burden.
Mitt Romney: Has said he supports for-profit universities that promote competition and help keep costs down.
Rick Santorum: Has criticized universities at indoctrination centers for the left, saying “Should we be subsidizing that?”
