Graphic: Transportation For the New Generation

Young people seem to constantly be on-the-go. They’re mobile beings in more ways than one. But no matter where they’re going, they’re deviating away from more traditional forms of transportation. Some walk. Some bike. And others take the bus. Whatever the alternative mode of transportation, young people in the U.S. are driving less.

Last month, we published a story about how ever-increasing gas prices have affected the Millennial generation. Research showed that young people spend more of their monthly budget on gasoline than their older counterparts. Then again, the amount of money a Gen-Y individual makes has dropped since 2007.

But as politicians debate how best to bring down rising gas prices, young people are off finding their own alternatives to traditional transportation. Whether those attitudes (and actions) will affect legislators’ policy decisions remains to be seen.

Here’s a graphic to break down exactly how Millennials are getting around.
